March 25, 2024 - Walberg Invitation-only Town Hall – Dundee, MI

US Congress Member, Tim Walberg [MI-05]: “President says it, or not, I don’t know how you build a port. He says it’s gonna be all in the water, but once that’s hooked up, that becomes fair game. So, you’re putting our troops in harm’s way. Probably CB’s [Construction Battalions], and others that are gonna be doing that engineering policies. I don’t see how you possibly could say that that isn’t putting our troops in harm’s way in Gaza, where we shouldn’t be. We should be resourcing Israel just like they want to, to kill Hamas on their own.”

Constituent 1: “Mr. Walberg? I asked that question. Uh, the reason I asked is cause I was with a – a gentleman that’s in the US Army – He’s a diver – yesterday, and he said he’s being deployed on April 1st to go into Gaza to build a pier, and they’re going to be protected by the IDF while they’re there. They’re there for a minimum of 90 days and deployed until the project is finished. Why are we spending our money to build a port for them?”

Walberg: “Yeah. Um – [4 second pauseIt’s Joe Biden’s reason: We need to get humanitarian aid into Gaza. I don’t think we should. I – I don’t think any of our aid that goes to Israel to support our greatest ally, arguably maybe in the world to defeat Hamas and Iran and Russia, and probably North Korea’s in there, and China too, with them in helping – helping – uh – uh, Hamas. Um, we shouldn’t be spending a dime on humanitarian aid. It – it should be like Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Get it over quick. The same – the same should be in Ukraine. Defeat Putin quick. Instead of 80 percent of our funding for Ukraine being used for humanitarian purposes. It should be 80 percent, a hundred percent to wipe out Russian forces, if that’s what we want to do.”

Constituent 1: “We haven’t fought a real war since the World War 2.”

Walberg: “Well, there’s a lot of people died in wars that were not classified as real wars, but they were real wars for those people.”

Constituent 1: “I mean, we didn’t fight to win.”

Dustin Krasny [Walberg’s staffer/Lenawee County Commissioner]: “We – we are - we got through all the questions, and we’re out of time, but – uh, speaking - [interruption].”

Walberg: “I got two more minutes!”

Krasny: “But speaking of proud veterans – uh, Ken Moore – uh, has a question for you.”

Walberg: “Ken?”

Krasny: “Ken, from Monroe.”

Moore: “Mr. Walberg, my name’s Ken Moore. I’m a Vietnam veteran, a friend of Will Bruck, 31 years in the Army...”
